Etymology

This man-made archipelago, covering nearly four million square meters, is the first in Qatar with the land. And real estate is available for foreign nationals to buy. The name “The Pearl” was chosen because the island was built on one of Qatar’s former main pearl dive sites. The country was one of the main pearl traders in Asia before Japanese pearls became cheaper and more affordable just before the oil boom. La Perla is divided into 12 districts, each of which has a distinct architectural style.
