Ways to Stop a Property From Getting Too Hot

Feeling uncomfortably warm inside your home when the mercury rises outside? You’re not alone. Homes in the UK are built to withstand cold wintery days but don’t fare so well when we experience more tropical temperatures! With climate change adding to the threat of rising temperatures, how are we to stay cool in our heavily insulated homes?

An eco-friendly way to cool a property is to consider planting trees around it which will grow in a few years to provide lots of lovely shade during the summer. Another sustainable method to prevent buildings from overheating is to install shades on the outside of a property. A good example of this is the Brise Soleil and you can find out about installation at a site like Aluminium Systems, suppliers of Brise Soleil

Cheap hacks to keep a home cool include keeping blinds drawn during the heat of the day. Placing ice in front of a fan will also make the flow of air much cooler and more refreshing.

A small way to keep your property from getting too warm is to make sure you don’t leave appliances in the standby mode. Many people put TVs, phone chargers, computers and other high energy consuming machines in standby mode when not in use. Although these items may seem inconsequential, the cost of running these items every month can add up over time, as well as the heat they produce. As a result, it is better to turn them off completely when not in use.
