Dragon fruit is also known as Pitaya or Pitahaya. This fruit grows on the cactus but there are several types of cactuses. Hylocereus cactus can grow the editable dragon fruit.

There are three types of dragon fruits available on the market. This classification is based on skin color and flesh color.

  • Type 1: It has white flesh with pink skin. Its other name is Hylocereus undatus. The lion’s share of the dragon fruit market is covered by this type.
  • Type 2: The skin of this type is red and its flesh is also red. It is also known as Hylocereus costaricensis.
  • Type 3: White flesh but yellow skin the rare type of dragon fruit.  Hylocereus megaliths is another name of this type.

Some dragon fruits may reach 1 kg but usually, the weight of the dragon fruit is between 150 to 600 grams. Now it is cultivated all over the world but earlier it was cultivated in Central America and Mexico.

What are the benefits of dragon fruit?

Dragon fruit‘s nutrition level is high. It contains different kinds of minerals ( calcium, sodium ), Carbohydrates ( sugar, dietary fiber ), protein, and vitamin C. The seeds of dragon fruit are also rich. It contains linolenic, linoleic, oleic, palmitoleic, myristic, palmitic acid, etc.

The surface of the dragon fruit isn’t smooth. On the surface of dragon fruit, there is some leaf that looks like a thorn. Ingredients

  1. A large sharp knife
  2. Dragon fruit
  3. Cutting board
  4. Spoon
  5. Dish

Procedure:

Step 1: Clean the dragon fruit

Step 2: Try to remove all excess water from the fruit

Step 3: Hold the fruit on the cutting board and take the knife

Step 4: Now run the knife middle of the fruit and cut it into two pieces

Step 5: Take one part of the fruit and spoon

Step 6: To separate the skin and flesh slide the spoon between skin and flesh.

Step 7: After separating the flesh from the skin now you can lift it

Step 8: Place the flesh on the cutting board

Step 9: Horizontally and vertically slide it

Step 10: Now separate all pieces and you see they look like a cube

Take the all pieces on a dish and now you can serve it.
