There are some things in life that are inevitable, such as taxes and ageing. Kind of ironic with a name like Young but he did indeed write a song about being an old man. The song featured on Young’s 1972 album Harvest and compares the experiences of a young and old man, reflecting that their needs are similar. Appearing on the 1973 album The Dark Side of the Moon, this melancholic track explores the concept of the passing of time and how most don’t realise until it’s too late. There is a realisation that as we age, we are not preparing for life but are in the middle of it. Sounds like a good time to start preparing for care when we are older.
