Some of the reasons kettling occurs are:
- Leaks – if your system has a leak somewhere. This could be a leak within your boiler itself or elsewhere in your wider heating system sicha s the joints and radiators. The kettling noise occurs as the boiler has to work harder to push the hot water around your system as some of it is leaking out.
- Limescale – this can be an issue for any boiler but particularly those in hard water areas. The sludge can build up over a period of time and this can cause a restriction in the flow of water through your heating system. This then builds the pressure up as the water is being pushed through a smaller narrowing.
