How to protect your products

It might be a major achievement to get your products into the supermarket or at least some shops. However, this is only part of the battle. How do you help to protect those products when they finally do hit the shelves? What measures can, and do, the retailers use to ensure that your product is safe from being stolen and reducing their, and your, profits?

  1. Cameras and CCTV. Surveillance is one of the best things that can make a good defence. The recording of the thief or thieves can be used as prosecution if any arrest can be made. CCTV is able to cover huge areas of the shop and can be made to be very inconspicuous.
  2. A security guard. There is nothing more noticeable than someone in uniform. They are able to immediately give over an air of enforcement and protection. Not only that, they can respond quickly to any incident that happens in the store and be a ready presence to help and to deter any wrongdoing.

  1. Well trained staff. Having a team of staff that can see and recognise the signs of criminal activity before they happen is one of the best ideas a retailer can have. Six monthly training sessions are greatly recommended with frequent refresher lectures.
